From August 23 to 26, 2026, Korea University carried out a series of activities in Hanoi to promote Korea–Vietnam cooperation on the green transition.
On August 23, Professors Sung Jin Kang and Kyung Nam Kim met with officials from Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), including Bui Quoc Hung, Deputy Director General of the Electricity Authority, to discuss renewable energy policies, power grid modernization, joint research, and professional training.
On August 25, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Korean Economic Association, and KU-GETPPP jointly hosted the Korea–Vietnam Strategic Joint Forum under the theme “Green Transition for Sustainable Development.” Participants agreed on the need to advance bilateral cooperation from a trade-based model toward one centered on technology transfer, joint research and development, and supply chain cooperation. They also explored opportunities to expand cooperation in nuclear power, renewable energy, energy storage systems, green finance, and carbon markets.
At the GETPPP Alumni Meeting held after the forum, participants strengthened the network of KU-GETPPP alumni in Vietnam and agreed to continue cooperation in joint research, policy exchange, and technology. |
