The Embassy of Nepal in Korea hosted a seminar on August 23 at the KOTRA Invest Korea Plaza to share information on investment opportunities for Korean companies in Nepal’s energy and climate sectors.
The seminar was co-organized by the Embassy of Nepal in Korea, KOTRA, and Korea University’s GETPPP program. Over 70 participants from the government, public institutions, and academia of both Nepal and Korea attended the event. Among the notable attendees were Kim Tae-hyung, Head of Invest Korea, and Pushpa Raj Bhattarai, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul. Kang Sung-jin, Director of Korea University's GETPPP, served as the chair, overseeing the opening remarks, welcome addresses, congratulatory speeches, and thematic presentations. The first presentation, titled "Foreign Direct Investment in Nepal’s Energy Sector," was delivered by Dr. Ram Prasad Mainali, Director General at Nepal's Ministry of Finance. This was followed by a second presentation on "Investment Opportunities in Nepal’s Energy Sector," given by Ganesh Karki, President of the Independent Power Producers' Association of Nepal. The third presentation featured Kim Jun-hyung, Manager at Korea South-East Power, who shared insights from his experience investing in Nepal’s hydropower sector.
In addition to the presentations, the seminar provided a platform to promote the newly published "Nepal Investment Guide 2024." The event fostered active discussions among attendees, highlighting opportunities for investment in Nepal's energy and climate sectors.
This seminar underscored the growing interest in Nepal’s renewable energy market and created meaningful connections between stakeholders from both countries, paving the way for future collaboration. |
