The 2026 International Climate Forum, jointly hosted by the Net Zero 2050 Climate Foundation and Korea University’s Global Energy Technology Policy Professionals Program (KU-GETPPP), was successfully held on Wednesday, September 9, at the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Seoul under the theme, “Climate Diplomacy Strategies and the Future of Green Innovative Industries in the Era ofCarbon Neutrality.” The forum brought together approximately 700 participants from Korea and abroad, including government officials, members of the diplomatic community, academics, and business leaders.
Participants shared the view that Korea should further strengthen solidarity and cooperation with the international community in response to the intensifying climate crisis. They also exchanged insights on recent developments in major climate policies, including carbon markets and emissions trading systems (ETS), and emphasized the importance of strengthening linkages between policy and industry so that the future vision for green innovative industries can translate into concrete corporate action and tangible outcomes.
Professor Sung Jin Kang(the Department of Economics at Korea University, Director of KU-GETPPP) chaired Session 1, “Climate Diplomacy and Global Climate Governance.” He led an in-depth discussion on ways to strengthen international cooperation and translate collective efforts to address the climate crisis into concrete actions and meaningful change. In Session 3, “Climate Diplomacy and Achieving Carbon Neutrality,” two GETPPP alumni gave presentations.
