GETPPP students visited the Soyang Dam in the Gangwon province. The dam blocks the Soyang river, creating the largest artificial lake in Korea, Soyang Lake. the multi-purpose dam creating ‘the sea inside the land’ began construction in 1967 and was completed in 1973. Part of the original purpose was to provide flood control for the Han River Basin in addition to providing electricity generation to the Seoul metro region. The dam has generation capacity of 200MW. GETPPP students could tour the dam and adjacent river and lake area. The tour included the hydroelectricity generation of the dam​.
