On December 7, 2017, GETPPP students had the opportunity to visit the works of the Mine Reclamation Corporation (MIRECO). Within the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, it is the only organization specialized in mine reclamation in Korea. Formed in 2006, the organization's mission mission is to "Contribute to economic revival and public welfare through eco-friendly mine reclamation and sustainable local development." The organization is involved in the environmental remediation and economic development of mine reclamation.

GETPPP students were briefed about MIRECO and  the work that they are involved in during a special session at Korea University. Afterwards students moved on to visit the Gwangmyeong Gahak Mine Cave. Formerly used for mining gold, silver and zinc, in 2011 it was opened to the public as a tourist attraction hosting a number of art and culture spaces. The cave also offers hands-on activities to experience the collection of gold. The final leg of the field visit concluded at the Sambo Mine Water Purification Facility in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The mine first went in to operation in 1910 and was rebuilt in 1975 to produce barite, lead, and zinc. The mine closed in 1999 and the water treatment facility project began in 2015 to treat leachate polluting the water caused by the history of mining activities.
