The International Conference of the Association of Korean Economic Studies (AKES) on Korea and the World Economy, XVII: 'Economic Challenges and New Approaches for Aging Society' was held from June 25-26, 2018 at the Jeju Orient Hotel Convention Center. This year marked the seventeenth in the series of conferences on 'Korea and the World Economy' and included 24 sessions over the two days. 

A special session for KU-GETPPP students was held on Monday, June 25th, titled ‘Country-wide Energy and Industry Strategies.’ The session was moderated by Professor Jooyoung Park and the presentations by Sultonmurod Tukhtaev, Alain Bakari Adamou, Binh Nguyen Huy and Hai Tung Mai, Luvsantseren Ichinkhorloo, Mareledi Gina Maswabi, Mazhar Hayat, Mohamad Hamzi Abdul Azziz, Muny Phakdey Koet, Thanun Hathaisete, Namal Indika Liyanage, Nicha Somboon, Adimas Pradityo Sukarso speaking about their respective countries. The presenters provided the background research for their thesis proposals. The discussants for the session were Green School professors Ki-Yual Bang, Donghwan Kim, Sinjong Kim, Changmo Sung, Yangho Chung, and Jintaek Whang,
