On June 26th, GETPPP students visited the Manjanggul Cave. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Manjanggul Cave is a lava tube cave that extends for 13km over multiple levels. With dimensions spanning as wide as 18m and as high as 23m making it one of the largest lava tubes in the world. However, only 1km is open to tourist, but the visitors are able to view marvelous geologic features including lava stalagmites reaching 70cm and naturally shaped unique rock formations, such as the Stone Turtle, shaped liked both a turtle and the island of Jeju.
