GETPPP Explores Eco-Friendly Technology Collaboration at NEXTON Okcheon Plant

On February 24th, GETPPP visited NEXTON's Okcheon plant to gain insights and ideas on eco-friendly energy technology.

NEXTON, a Korean indoor vertical farming startup, implemented the world's first vertical farm in a tunnel that maintains a temperature of 10-20°C year-round without active cooling or heating solutions.

The tunnel features photosynthetic LED lighting and an exclusive growth system function, which reduces costs that have previously affected the profitability and sustainability of the business.

Additionally, due to its eco-friendly growth methods and clean, controlled environment, the vegetables require minimal or no washing, providing overall cost benefits to corporate customers.

During the visit, GETPPP students discussed potential measures for introducing these eco-friendly technologies into their own countries and continued conversations on the direction of future collaboration with NEXTON.

The GETPPP members had a chance to visit the NEXTON Okcheon plant and the Daejeon Wooam Historical Park to discuss traditional Korean hanok architecture design and ondol heating system.
