On Wednesday, April 26th, GETPPP student had the cultural experience of visiting the renowned Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). It was established by the provisions of the Armistice Agreement for the Restoration of the South Korean State to serve as a buffer zone between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea). Since no treaty was ever made, the two states are still technically in a state of war. Students stopped by Unification Bridge, DMZ Exhibition hall, the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel and Dora observatory. Students learned about the history of the division and the present situations along the border.
